Jeremiah 51:47-48
The fall of Babylon demonstrates that idolatrous power and violent empire cannot withstand the judgment of the living God.
47 Therefore behold, the days come that I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon; and her whole land will be confounded. All her slain will fall in the middle of her.
48 Then the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, will sing for joy over Babylon; for the destroyers will come to her from the north,” says Yahweh.

To announce the certainty of the coming day when the LORD will judge Babylon’s idols and cause the entire land to be publicly shamed and devastated.
Jeremiah 51:47–48 resumes the pronouncement of judgment against Babylon’s idols and portrays the universal rejoicing that accompanies the empire’s fall.

The LORD will make Babylon sink under the weight of her violence, idolatry, pride, and bloodshed, while calling his people to flee, remember Zion, and trust his irreversible word.
