1 Timothy 6:17-19 workgenerositystewardship
Passage Details God's people must not anchor hope in uncertain wealth, but in God, whose generosity frees them for good works.
Full Devotional Wealth can quietly ask the heart for trust. Paul does not condemn provision, enjoyment, or responsibility. He warns against conceit and misplaced hope. Riches belong to the present age, and their uncertainty makes them a poor foundation for the soul. God alone richly provides all things, and hope belongs in Him. That changes how resources are held. The gospel frees believers from clutching wealth as identity or security, because true life is received from God, not purchased by abundance. Generosity is not a strategy for appearing spiritual. It is the fruit of hope moved from riches to the living God.
Today, examine where your sense of safety rests. Work, money, possessions, and opportunity may be stewarded with gratitude, but they must not rule the heart. Be rich in good works because God has been rich in mercy, provision, and promise. True life is found in Him, not in accumulation. Let generosity confess that truth plainly.
Pray God, loosen my grip on uncertain riches. Anchor my hope in You and make me generous, ready to share, and rich in good works.
Respond Choose one concrete act of generosity today: give, share, encourage, or use a resource for another person's good.
