Literary Context

Leviticus 23:44 concludes the chapter’s catalogue of appointed times. After the Sabbath, Passover and Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Weeks, Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles, the final verse gathers the whole section under Moses’ mediating announcement to the Israelites.

Historical Context

Israel is at Sinai receiving covenant instruction through Moses concerning holiness, worship, and life before the LORD. The Israelites, who are to order their sacred calendar according to the LORD’s appointed times.
