Psalms 8:3–5

Crowned with Care: Human Dignity in God's Vastness

The Lord of the heavens has chosen mortal man to be His vice-regent, crowning him with dignity and personal care.

Psalms 8:3–5 (BSB)

3 When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—

4 what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

5 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.

What is the big idea of Psalms 8:3–5?

The Lord of the heavens has chosen mortal man to be His vice-regent, crowning him with dignity and personal care.

How does Psalms 8:3–5 point to Christ?

Jesus is the Son of Man who was made 'a little lower than the angels' so that by His death He could taste death for everyone; He is the only one who perfectly wears the 'crown of glory and honor,' and through Him, we are restored to our intended royal purpose.

Authorial Intent
