Father of Talmai, king of Geshur

Who is Ammihud in the Bible?

Ammihud was the father of Talmai, the king of Geshur, an Aramean kingdom located northeast of the Sea of Galilee. He is mentioned in 2 Samuel 13:37 in connection with his son Talmai, who provided refuge to Absalom after Absalom killed his brother Amnon. Absalom remained in Geshur under Talmai's protection for three years before eventually returning to Jerusalem. Though Ammihud himself does not appear as a major figure in the narrative, his son's role in sheltering David's fugitive son made him part of a significant episode in Israel's royal history, illustrating the political relationships between the Israelite kingdom and surrounding Aramean territories.
