Father of Shemuel, leader from Simeon

Who is Ammihud in the Bible?

Ammihud was the father of Shemuel, a leader from the tribe of Simeon during the wilderness period of Israel's history. When the Lord commanded Moses to appoint representatives from each of the twelve tribes to oversee the division of the land of Canaan, Shemuel son of Ammihud was selected to represent Simeon in this crucial responsibility (Numbers 34:20). Though Ammihud himself is mentioned only in connection with his son's role, he is remembered as part of the genealogy of leaders chosen to implement God's plan for distributing the promised land among the Israelites.
