A man who married a foreign woman

Who is Cheluhi in the Bible?

Cheluhi was a man mentioned in Ezra 10:35 who had married a foreign woman during the Babylonian Exile. When the Jewish people returned from exile, the priest Ezra confronted those who had taken non-Israelite wives, viewing these marriages as violations of God's covenant law. Cheluhi was among those who agreed to separate from their foreign wives and children as an act of repentance and recommitment to obedience to God's law. His inclusion in this list demonstrates the spiritual reforms undertaken by the returned exiles to restore proper worship and community boundaries in post-exilic Judah.
