Eliada אֶלְיָדָע
Father of Rezon, an adversary of Solomon
Who is Eliada in the Bible?
Eliada was an Aramean whose son Rezon became a significant adversary to King Solomon during Israel's united monarchy period. According to 1 Kings 11:23, Rezon fled from his master Hadadezer, king of Zobah, after David had defeated Hadadezer's forces, and eventually established himself as king in Damascus. Rezon's rise to power and opposition to Solomon represents one of the external threats that weakened Solomon's kingdom during his later reign, fulfilling the pattern of adversaries God raised up against him.
Biography
