Midianite king killed in battle against Israel.

Who is Evi in the Bible?

Evi was one of the five kings of Midian killed by the Israelites during the time of Moses, as recorded in Numbers 31:8. He and his fellow Midianite rulers had conspired with the Moabites to lead Israel into idolatry and sexual immorality, prompting God to command Moses to execute vengeance against them (Numbers 25:1-9, 31:1-2). Evi was defeated and slain in the subsequent battle, along with the other Midianite kings and the prophet Balaam (Numbers 31:8). He is also mentioned in Joshua 13:21 among the princes of Sihon whose territories were allotted to the Israelites. Evi's defeat represents God's judgment against those who opposed Israel and led the people away from their covenant with the Lord.

Biography

Evi was one of the five kings of Midian who were defeated and killed by the Israelites during the time of Moses (Num.31.8). These kings were allies of the Moabites and had played a role in leading the Israelites into idolatry and sexual immorality (Num.25.1-9). As a result, God commanded Moses to take vengeance on the Midianites (Num.31.1-2). Evi and the other Midianite kings were slain in battle, along with Balaam the son of Beor (Num.31.8). The Midianite kings, including Evi, are also mentioned as having been defeated by the Israelites in Jos.13.21, where they are described as "princes of Sihon" and "rulers in the land."
