Who is Hanan in the Bible?

Hanan was a Levite who lived during the post-exilic period and is mentioned in Nehemiah 10:22 as one of the signatories to the covenant that the people of Israel made under Nehemiah's leadership. After the completion of the wall of Jerusalem and the public reading of the Law, the community entered into a solemn agreement to obey God's commandments and support the temple service. As a Levite who signed this covenant, Hanan represented the religious leaders' commitment to restoring Israel's faithfulness to God's Law following the exile.
