Male H2815I 1 book

A repairer of Jerusalem's wall opposite his house.

Who is Hasshub in the Bible?

Hasshub was a resident of Jerusalem who participated in the rebuilding of the city's wall under Nehemiah's leadership. According to Nehemiah 3:23, he repaired a section of the wall directly opposite his own house, working alongside Benjamin on this restoration project. His inclusion in the account of the wall's reconstruction suggests that Hasshub had a personal investment in Jerusalem's restoration, as homeowners often took responsibility for the portions of the wall nearest their residences. Though little else is known about him, Hasshub's contribution exemplifies how ordinary citizens of Jerusalem united in the crucial task of rebuilding their city's defenses after the exile.
