Son of Ishmael

Who is Jetur in the Bible?

Jetur was one of the twelve sons of Ishmael, Abraham's son by Hagar, as recorded in Genesis 25:15 and 1 Chronicles 1:31. He appears in the genealogical records that trace the descendants of Abraham through his relationship with Hagar, establishing the lineage of the Ishmaelite peoples. According to Genesis 25:18, the Ishmaelites, including Jetur and his brothers, settled in the region from Havilah to Shur, east of Egypt. Though little is known about Jetur individually, his inclusion in biblical genealogy underscores the biblical emphasis on recording the diverse peoples and nations that descended from Abraham, including those outside the primary covenant line.
