Son of Esau

Who is Korah in the Bible?

Korah was a son of Esau and his wife Oholibamah, making him a grandson of Isaac and a descendant of Zibeon the Hivite (Genesis 36:5, 14, 18; 1 Chronicles 1:35). He was born in Canaan before his father Esau relocated his family to the region of Seir. As one of Esau's sons, Korah became a chief of Edom and is listed among the tribal leaders descended from Esau. Though Korah appears only briefly in genealogical records, his inclusion in the line of Esau establishes the early structure of Edomite leadership and demonstrates the expansion of Esau's descendants into the territories they would inhabit.
