Mash מַשׁ
Son of Aram, grandson of Shem.
Who is Mash in the Bible?
Mash was a son of Aram and grandson of Shem, the son of Noah, appearing in the genealogies recorded in Genesis 10:23 and 1 Chronicles 1:17. The name Mash in Genesis corresponds to Meshech in 1 Chronicles, both referring to the same biblical figure. Scholars believe Mash represents the original reading and likely identifies with the Mons Masius, a mountainous region on the northern boundary of Mesopotamia mentioned in classical sources. As a descendant of Noah through the line of Shem, Mash represents one of the post-flood nations and peoples from which ancient civilizations developed according to biblical genealogy.

Mash, also known as Meshech, was a son of Aram and a grandson of Shem, the son of Noah. He is mentioned in the genealogies of the descendants of Noah's sons after the flood (Gen.10.23; 1Ch.1.17). The name Mash is used in Genesis, while Meshech is used in 1 Chronicles, referring to the same individual.

Mash
uagint (Mosoch) supports this form in both passages. "Meshech," however, is a Japhetic name (Ge 10:2), and "Mash" would seem to be the original reading. It is probably to be identified with the Mons Masius of classical writers (Strabo, etc.), on the northern boundary of Mesopotamia.
