Who is Nethanel in the Bible?
Nethanel was a priest who served in Jerusalem during the time of Nehemiah, following the return from the Babylonian Exile (Nehemiah 12:21). He was a contemporary of the high priest Joiakim and participated in the restoration of religious life in the rebuilt temple. As a priest of that era, Nethanel would have been responsible for offering sacrifices and leading worship as the Jewish community reestablished itself in Jerusalem.
