Father of one of Solomon's district governors

Who is Paruah in the Bible?

Paruah was the father of Jehoshaphat, who served as one of King Solomon's twelve district governors (1 Kings 4:17). Jehoshaphat, son of Paruah, was assigned to oversee the hill country of Ephraim and was responsible for providing provisions for the royal household during one month of each year. While Paruah himself appears only briefly in Scripture, his mention serves to establish the genealogical and administrative context of Solomon's organized kingdom, illustrating the structured governance system that supported the monarch's household and demonstrated the extensive networks of authority that sustained Israel during Solomon's reign.
