Father of Joiada, who repaired the Old Gate

Who is Paseah in the Bible?

Paseah was the father of Joiada (also called Jehoiada), who participated in rebuilding Jerusalem's walls after the Babylonian exile. According to Nehemiah 3:6, Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah repaired the Old Gate, laying its beams and installing its doors, bolts, and bars. The Old Gate was located on the northern section of Jerusalem's wall near the temple. Though Paseah himself is not mentioned independently in Scripture, his legacy is preserved through his son's role in this significant restoration project, demonstrating how ordinary families contributed to the physical and spiritual renewal of Jerusalem after exile.
