Nephew of Abraham

Who is Pildash in the Bible?

Pildash was a nephew of Abraham, mentioned in Genesis 22:22 as one of the eight sons born to Nahor, Abraham's brother, and his wife Milcah. He lived in the region of Haran during the patriarchal period and was part of Abraham's extended family who remained in Mesopotamia while Abraham journeyed to Canaan in response to God's call. Though Pildash is listed among his brothers Uz, Buz, Kemuel, Chesed, Hazo, Jidlaph, and Bethuel, he receives no further narrative attention in Scripture, serving primarily to establish the genealogical connections between Abraham's immediate family and the broader Aramean kinship groups of the ancient Near East.

Biography

Pildash is mentioned in Gen.22.22 as one of the eight sons of Nahor, Abraham's brother, and Milcah, Nahor's wife. He is listed alongside his brothers Uz, Buz, Kemuel, Chesed, Hazo, Jidlaph, and Bethuel. Pildash was Abraham's nephew and would have been part of the extended family living in the region of Haran, where Abraham had originally settled with his father, Terah, before being called by God to go to Canaan (Gen.11.31).
