Who is Shecaniah in the Bible?

Shecaniah was a descendant of Jahaziel who returned from Babylonian exile to Jerusalem with the priest Ezra, as recorded in Ezra 8:5. He was part of the significant group of Jewish exiles who made the journey back to their homeland to rebuild and restore worship in the temple.
