Ephraim's granddaughter who built three towns

Who is Sheerah in the Bible?

Sheerah was the granddaughter of Ephraim, son of Beriah, mentioned in 1 Chronicles 7:24 as a builder of three significant towns in ancient Israel. She constructed both the lower and upper Beth-horon, as well as Uzzen-sheerah, making her a remarkable figure in biblical history. Beth-horon was an important settlement in the territory of Ephraim, and Sheerah's role as a city founder was highly unusual for women in the ancient Near East. Her prominence as a builder suggests she held considerable status and influence within her community, earning her a place in the genealogical records of Israel despite the rarity of women being credited with such achievements.
