Who is Tamar in the Bible?

Tamar was the beautiful daughter of Absalom, mentioned in 2 Samuel 14:27 as one of his three children. She was named after her aunt, Absalom's full sister, who had been tragically violated by their half-brother Amnon in an event that deeply affected the royal family of Israel.
