Levite gatekeeper, son of Hosah

Who is Tebaliah in the Bible?

Tebaliah was a Levite gatekeeper and the third son of Hosah, mentioned in 1 Chronicles 26:11. He served as a guard at the temple during ancient Israel's worship practices, specifically assigned to the Shallecheth Gate on the west side of the temple complex. Like other gatekeepers of his time, Tebaliah was responsible for controlling access to the sacred temple and its courtyards, a crucial role in maintaining the sanctity and order of Israel's central place of worship. Though little is recorded about him individually, Tebaliah represents the important priestly support system that enabled the temple's daily operations and protected its holiness.
