Zabud זָבוּד
Son of Nathan, priest and king's friend
Biography
Zabud was the son of Nathan, who was likely the prophet and advisor to King David. Zabud held a significant position in the court of King Solomon, serving both as a priest and as the king's friend. His dual role as a religious leader and a trusted companion to the king highlights the close relationship between the monarchy and the priesthood in ancient Israel. Zabud's presence in the king's inner circle suggests he provided spiritual guidance and counsel to Solomon throughout his reign.

Zabud
:1Chr.2.36">1Ch 2:36). The American Revised Version margin has "priest" for "chief minister." Benzinger (Kurz. Hand-Commentary, 18) holds that "this expression is a marginal gloss here," while Kittel (Handkomm., 31) holds it to be genuine, though it is wanting in the Septuagint. Some suggest cokhen (see SHEBNA) for kohen. The expression "king's friend" (compare 2Sa 15:37; 16:16) is, says Kittel, an old Canaanite title, found also in the Tell el-Amarna Letters.
