Ammon, a nation descended from Lot, and its capital Rabbah, often in conflict with Israel.

Where is Ammon in the Bible?

Ammon was an ancient nation located east of the Jordan River in what is now modern-day Jordan, descended from Lot according to biblical genealogy. The Ammonites, as its people were called, frequently came into conflict with Israel throughout the Old Testament, particularly during the time of the Judges and the monarchy. Their capital city was Rabbah, which is mentioned prominently in accounts of David's military campaigns. The Ammonites appear throughout Scripture in books including Genesis, Deuteronomy, Judges, Psalms, and Jeremiah, often portrayed as enemies of God's people or as nations that would face judgment for their hostility toward Israel. Theologically, Ammon represents one of Israel's persistent adversaries and serves as an example of nations that opposed God's chosen people.
