1Ch 6:59. (44) = Jos 21:16 (`ayin is a corruption of `ashan). Chorashan (or Borashan), which was probably the site of some reservoir in the Southwest part of Judah (1Sa 30:30), is the same as Ashan.

Where is Ashan in the Bible?

Ashan was a city located in the southwestern part of ancient Judah, in what is now southern Israel. Originally assigned to the tribe of Judah during the conquest of Canaan, it was later shared with the tribe of Simeon and eventually designated as a Levitical city for the priestly tribe. The city appears in the biblical record in Joshua 21:16 and 1 Chronicles 6:59 as part of the cities given to the Levites for their habitation. Ashan is also identified with Chorashan (or Borashan), mentioned in 1 Samuel 30:30 in connection with David's military campaigns, where it served as a strategic location in the southwestern Judean region.
