Baalah standard
(2) A city in the Negeb of Judah (Jos 15:29). In Jos 19:3 Balah and in 1Ch 4:29 Bilhah; perhaps also Boaloth of Jos 15:24. The site is unknown; but see PEF, III, 26.
Where is Baalah in the Bible?
Baalah appears in the Bible as a town located in the Negeb region of southern Judah, mentioned in Joshua 15:29 as one of the cities allotted to the tribe of Simeon. The name also appears in variant forms, including Balah in Joshua 19:3 and Bilhah in 1 Chronicles 4:29, reflecting different spellings in biblical manuscripts. Additionally, Mount Baalah is referenced in Joshua 15:11 as a geographical marker along the border between Judah's territories, located between Shikkeron (ancient Ekron) and Jabneel. While the exact modern location of the town remains unknown to scholars, these references indicate Baalah was part of Judah's southern boundary during the period of tribal land distribution after the Israelite conquest of Canaan.

(3) Mount Baalah (Jos 15:11), a mountain ridge between Shikkeron (Ekron) and Jabnoel unless, as seems probable, the suggestion of M. Clermont-Ganneau (Rev. Crit, 1897, 902) is correct that for har ( = "mount"), we should read nahar ("river"). In this case the border in question would be the Nahr rubin. Here there is an annual feast held--attended by all classes and famous all over Syria--which appears to be a real survival of "Baal worship."
