Bamoth-baal was a Moabite high place where Balak took Balaam to curse Israel.

Where is Bamoth-baal in the Bible?

Bamoth-baal was a high place located in the land of Moab, east of the Jordan River, where the Moabite king Balak brought the prophet Balaam to curse the Israelites during their wilderness wanderings. The name means "high places of Baal," referring to an elevated sanctuary dedicated to the pagan deity Baal. In the book of Numbers, Balak believed that a curse from the renowned prophet Balaam would weaken Israel's military strength as they approached the Promised Land. Though Balaam was hired to curse Israel, God prevented him from doing so, and he blessed the Israelites instead, making Bamoth-baal significant as a place where God's protection overruled human schemes against his people. The site is also mentioned in Joshua as a Moabite territorial location during Israel's conquest of Canaan.
