Where is Berea in the Bible?
Berea was an ancient city located in Macedonia, in what is now northern Greece. The city gained biblical significance as the site of Paul's missionary work during his second missionary journey, as recorded in the Book of Acts. When Paul and Silas arrived in Berea after leaving Thessalonica, the local Jewish community received their message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to verify Paul's teachings, earning them praise for their open-mindedness. Berea was also the hometown of Sopater, one of Paul's trusted traveling companions who accompanied him on his journeys. The city represents an important stop in the early spread of Christianity through the Mediterranean world.
