Where is Eltolad in the Bible?

Eltolad was a town located in the Negev region of ancient Israel, allotted to the tribes of Judah and Simeon as part of their territorial inheritance. The town is mentioned in the Book of Joshua as one of the cities distributed to these tribes during the conquest and settlement of Canaan. Eltolad appears again in 1 Chronicles 4:29 under the alternate name Tolad, with scholars noting that "El" is simply the Arabic article "the" prepended to the original name. While the exact location of Eltolad remains unknown to modern archaeologists, it represents one of many Negev settlements that defined the southern border of Judah's tribal lands in biblical times.
