Where is Giloh in the Bible?
Giloh, also known as Gilo, was a city located in the hill country of Judah, situated approximately three miles northwest of Hulhul in ancient Judea. It is best known as the hometown of Ahithophel, one of King David's most trusted counselors, who is mentioned in Joshua 15:51 and later in 2 Samuel. Ahithophel's significance in biblical narrative comes from his tragic betrayal, when he abandoned David's court to join Absalom's rebellion against the king, marking a pivotal moment in David's life. The site is thought to correspond with the modern ruins of Khirbet Jala in the Judean hills, making it an important location in understanding the geography of the kingdom of Judah during the monarchy period.
