Where is Gimzo in the Bible?
Gimzo was a city located in the plain of Judah, situated approximately 3.5 miles southeast of Lydda on the ancient route toward Jerusalem. The city appears in the biblical record primarily in 2 Chronicles 28:18, where it is noted that the Philistines captured Gimzo during the reign of King Ahaz of Judah. This conquest occurred during a period of military pressure on the kingdom of Judah and represents one of the territorial losses that weakened Ahaz's reign. The capture of Gimzo illustrates the military challenges faced by Judah in the eighth century BC and the vulnerability of cities in the Judean plain to foreign invasion.
