ef="Bible:Ezra.2.30">Ezr 2:30). It does not appear in Nehemiah's list (Ne 7:33). Septuagint (Codex Vaticanus), however, has Magebos. The name is probably identical with Magpiash, "one who sealed the covenant" (Ne 10:20).
Where is Magbish in the Bible?
Magbish appears in the Bible only in Ezra 2:30, where it is mentioned as a place whose people returned to Judah following the Babylonian exile. Located in the region of Judah, Magbish is listed among the various towns and settlements that sent inhabitants back to the land during the restoration period under Persian rule. The name may be identical to Magpiash, a figure mentioned in Nehemiah 10:20 as one of the leaders who sealed the covenant after the exile. While Magbish appears in Ezra's account of the return, it notably does not appear in the comparable list found in Nehemiah, suggesting either a variant tradition or alternative naming of the same settlement.
