Where is Meribah in the Bible?
Meribah was a location in the wilderness where the Israelites camped during their exodus from Egypt, located in the Sinai Peninsula region. This place gained biblical significance as the site where Moses struck a rock to provide water for the complaining Israelites, as recorded in Exodus 17. The name "Meribah" itself means "quarrel" or "contention," reflecting the conflict between the people and Moses over their lack of water and their testing of God's patience. The event at Meribah became a symbolic reminder throughout Scripture of Israel's unfaithfulness, referenced in both Deuteronomy and Psalms as a warning against doubting God's provision. In Ezekiel's vision of the restored land of Israel, Meribah is mentioned as marking the southern boundary of the ideal future kingdom.
