Where is Pergamum in the Bible?

Pergamum was an ancient city located in what is now western Turkey, in the region of Asia Minor. In the Bible, Pergamum appears in the Book of Revelation as one of the seven churches of Asia to whom Christ addresses messages. The church at Pergamum is commended by Christ for remaining faithful to his name even though they lived in a city he describes as the place "where Satan has his throne," likely referring to the city's pagan temples and religious practices. Despite facing pressure to compromise their faith, the believers there maintained their witness, though some had begun to follow false teachings. Pergamum's inclusion in Revelation emphasizes the challenge of maintaining Christian conviction in a hostile cultural and spiritual environment.
