Where is Salecah in the Bible?
Salecah was an ancient city located in the region of Bashan, situated east of the Jordan River in what is now modern-day Syria. The city appears in the Old Testament as a territorial boundary marker and is mentioned in connection with the kingdoms of the giants Og and Sihon, whom the Israelites defeated during their conquest of Canaan (Deuteronomy 3:10; Joshua 12:5; 13:11). After the conquest, Salecah was assigned to the tribe of Gad as part of their inheritance in Transjordan (1 Chronicles 5:11). The city marked the eastern limit of Israelite territorial control in that region, making it an important geographical reference point in biblical land divisions.
