Where is Seir_Mount in the Bible?
Mount Seir was a mountainous region in the ancient Near East, located southeast of the Dead Sea in what is now southwestern Jordan. The Bible associates this area primarily with the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who inhabited and controlled the region (Deuteronomy 1:2, 2:1, 2:5). During the Israelites' wilderness wanderings, they passed by Mount Seir on their journey toward Canaan, and God instructed them not to contend with the Edomites who possessed this land. The prophet Ezekiel later pronounced judgment against Mount Seir, using it as a symbol of Edom's opposition to God's people. Mount Seir thus holds significance in biblical history both as the homeland of Israel's neighboring relatives and as a location central to God's guidance of the Israelites during their exodus from Egypt.
