Where is Shual in the Bible?

Shual was a region in ancient Israel that appears in 1 Samuel 13:17 during the reign of King Saul. Located in the territory of Benjamin, it was one of several areas targeted by Philistine raiding bands who spread out from their camp to plunder the Israelite countryside. The Philistines sent out multiple raiding parties in different directions, with one group moving westward toward Beth-horon and another eastward through the land of Shual, Ophrah, and Shaalim. This raid illustrates the military pressure Israel faced from the Philistines during Saul's early reign and demonstrates the vulnerability of the Israelite settlements at that time.
