Where is Sibmah in the Bible?

Sibmah was a town located east of the Jordan River in the region of Moab, in what is now modern-day Jordan. Originally a Moabite settlement famous for its vineyards, Sibmah was allotted to the Israelite tribe of Reuben during the conquest of Canaan (Numbers 32:38; Joshua 13:19). The town appears prominently in prophetic writings, particularly in Isaiah and Jeremiah, where the prophets use Sibmah's renowned vineyards as a symbol when pronouncing judgment against Moab for its pride and idolatry (Isaiah 16:8-9; Jeremiah 48:32). These references highlight Sibmah's theological significance as a place whose agricultural wealth would be destroyed as part of God's judgment on the region.
