said to send messengers to David at Thelam (Thailam); this would seem to be the same place and also to be identical with the Telaim and Telam of Saul (see TELAIM).

Where is Telem in the Bible?

Telem was a town located in the Negev region of southern Judah, assigned to the tribe of Judah according to Joshua 15:24. The town appears in biblical narratives connected to Israel's early monarchy, with some scholars identifying it with the place called Thelam where messengers came to David, and possibly with Telaim and Telam associated with King Saul's reign. While ancient Jewish sources suggest it may correspond to Talmia mentioned in the Talmud, the exact archaeological site of Telem has not been definitively recovered. Its significance lies primarily in its role as a designated city within Judah's tribal allotments during the period of settlement and early kingship in Israel.

said to send messengers to David at Thelam (Thailam); this would seem to be the same place and also to be identical with the Telaim and Telam of Saul (see TELAIM). It is probably the same as the Talmia of the Talmud (Neubauer, Geog. du Talmud, 121). The site has not been recovered.
