Jeremiah 10:14-16
Idols are powerless fabrications of human hands, but the Lord is the Creator of all things and the covenant God of His people.
14 Every man has become brutish and without knowledge. Every goldsmith is disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 They are vanity, a work of delusion. In the time of their visitation they will perish.
16 The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the maker of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Yahweh of Armies is his name.
Idols are powerless fabrications of human hands, but the LORD is the Creator of all things and the covenant God of His people.
To expose the foolishness of idol-makers and to declare the LORD as the incomparable Creator and covenant God of Israel.
The Living God and the Worthless Idols of the Nations
The living LORD alone is Creator, King, and Portion of his people, while idols are breathless frauds; therefore Judah must abandon pagan fear, submit to the LORD's correction, and confess that human beings cannot direct their own steps.
