Leviticus 25:18-22

18 “ ‘Therefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my ordinances and do them; and you shall dwell in the land in safety.
19 The land shall yield its fruit, and you shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
20 If you said, “What shall we eat the seventh year? Behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase;”
21 then I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it shall bear fruit for the three years.
22 You shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits from the old store until the ninth year. Until its fruits come in, you shall eat the old store.

This passage reassures Israel that obedience to the Sabbath and Jubilee laws will be sustained by God’s provision, removing fear associated with ceasing agricultural labor.
Leviticus 25:18-22 follows the Sabbath-year and Jubilee instructions of 25:1-17. After commanding rest, release, return, and just valuation, the passage addresses the obvious question: how will Israel eat if sowing and harvesting cease? The answer is not technique but covenant trust in the LORD’s promised blessing.

Because the land and the Israelites belong to the LORD, Israel must structure land, labor, debt, poverty, redemption, and release around Sabbath trust, Jubilee restoration, and exodus-shaped mercy.
