Planned Counsel Exposes the Danger of Folly

Wise plans are established through counsel and careful strategy.

To teach that wise planning requires counsel and that major undertakings, including conflict, should not be entered into impulsively but with thoughtful guidance.

Proverbs 20:18 follows verse 17, which warned against the deceptive allure of sin and its consequences. Now the focus shifts from the danger of deception to the safeguard of counsel. The progression is deliberate. If the heart can be deceived and actions can lead to harm, then wisdom must seek external input.
