Asriel was a son of Manasseh, the eldest son of Joseph, and the founder of the Asrielite clan within the tribe of Manasseh. He appears in the biblical record during the census of Israelites taken in the plains of Moab, where the Asrielite clan is listed among Manasseh's descendants (Numbers 26:31; Joshua 17:2). The Asrielites were one of the clans that received an inheritance in Canaan when the land was divided among the tribes of Israel.
