Son of Gilead, ancestor of the Helekites.

Who is Helek in the Bible?

Helek was a son of Gilead and the ancestor of the Helekite clan within the tribe of Manasseh (Numbers 26:30; Joshua 17:2). As a descendant of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, Helek belonged to one of Israel's prominent tribal lineages. His descendants, the Helekites, were among the clans of Manasseh that received an inheritance in the Promised Land during Joshua's conquest and division of Canaan. While Helek himself is mentioned only in genealogical records, his significance lies in establishing one of the family divisions through which the tribe of Manasseh organized itself and distributed its territorial holdings.
