Jehosheba יְהוֹשֶׁבַע
Daughter of Jehoram, saved Joash from Athaliah's massacre.
Who is Jehosheba in the Bible?
Jehosheba, also known as Jehoshabeath, was the daughter of King Jehoram of Judah and the sister of King Ahaziah. She was married to Jehoiada, the high priest, and is remembered for her courageous act of saving her young nephew Joash from his grandmother Athaliah's massacre of the royal family (2 Kings 11:2). After Ahaziah's death, when Athaliah seized the throne and killed the royal heirs, Jehosheba secretly rescued the infant Joash and hid him in the temple for six years. She and her husband Jehoiada later orchestrated Joash's coronation and Athaliah's overthrow, restoring the Davidic line to the throne. Jehosheba's faithfulness and bravery were essential to preserving the royal lineage through which the Messiah would eventually come.
