Son of Beriah, grandson of Asher.

Who is Malchiel in the Bible?

Malchiel was a son of Beriah and grandson of Asher, one of the twelve sons of Israel, whose lineage is recorded in the genealogies of the Israelite tribes (Genesis 46:17; 1 Chronicles 7:31). He is mentioned primarily in census records and genealogical lists, most notably in the numbering of Israel during Moses' time (Numbers 26:45). His descendants, known as the Malchielites, formed one of the major family clans within the tribe of Asher and were counted among the Israelite community. Though Malchiel himself is not described as performing any notable actions in scripture, his significance lies in his role as a patriarch of a tribal clan and his inclusion in the official genealogical records that established Israel's tribal structure and inheritance rights.
