Malluch מַלּוּךְ
Descendant of Harim, who divorced his foreign wife.
Who is Malluch in the Bible?
Malluch was a descendant of Harim who lived during the time of Ezra's religious reforms in Jerusalem (Ezra 10:32). He had married a foreign woman, which violated Jewish law regarding marriage to non-Israelites. As part of Ezra's effort to purify the Jewish community after the return from exile, Malluch was among those required to divorce their foreign wives. His compliance with this reform demonstrates the serious measures taken to maintain religious and ethnic boundaries in post-exilic Judaism, though it also highlights the difficult personal costs of these restoration efforts.
