Male Arabia H4017G 2 books

Son of Ishmael, grandson of Abraham.

Who is Mibsam in the Bible?

Mibsam was a son of Ishmael and a grandson of Abraham, mentioned in the genealogies found in Genesis 25:13 and 1 Chronicles 1:29. He was one of twelve sons born to Ishmael, all of whom are described as "princes according to their nations" (Genesis 25:16). The inclusion of Mibsam in these genealogical records serves as historical testimony to God's covenant promise to Abraham that Ishmael would become fruitful and greatly multiplied (Genesis 17:20). Though Mibsam himself receives no narrative account in Scripture, his name preserves the memory of the Arabian peoples descended from Ishmael's line.

Biography

Mibsam is mentioned in the genealogies of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, in the books of Genesis and 1 Chronicles (Gen.25.13; 1Ch.1.29). He was one of the twelve sons of Ishmael, who were described as "princes according to their nations" (Gen.25.16). The listing of Ishmael's sons demonstrates the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham that He would make Ishmael fruitful and multiply him exceedingly (Gen.17.20).
