Biography

Shuthelah is mentioned in Num.26.35,36 and 1Ch.7.20 as a son of Ephraim, the son of Joseph. He is listed among the descendants of Ephraim who formed the tribe of Ephraim, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. In Num.26.35, the Shuthelahite clan, which descended from Shuthelah, is counted in the census taken in the wilderness. This clan, along with the other Ephraimite clans, formed the tribe of Ephraim, which later received its inheritance in the central region of Canaan after the conquest of the Promised Land under Joshua's leadership. The mention of Shuthelah in the genealogies highlights his role as an ancestor of a significant clan within the tribe of Ephraim.
