Zechariah זְכַרְיָהוּ
Prophet who instructed King Uzziah
Who is Zechariah in the Bible?
Zechariah was a prophet who lived during the reign of King Uzziah of Judah and served as his spiritual mentor, as recorded in 2 Chronicles 26:5. He possessed understanding in the visions of God and instructed Uzziah in the fear of the Lord, helping the king maintain his devotion during the early years of his reign. Under Zechariah's guidance, Uzziah prospered greatly, becoming a mighty military leader who built fortifications and amassed a well-equipped army. However, this Zechariah appears only in this single biblical passage, making him a relatively minor but spiritually significant figure whose influence shaped one of Judah's most powerful kings, at least until pride led to Uzziah's eventual downfall.
